Born in Clifton Texas, July 17, 1923 to John B.Ludwig and Leona Kanz Ludwig. Johnnie graduated from Clifton, Texas High School in June 1942. He attended Baylor University on a full football scholarship from September 1942 until he enlisted in the US Navy June in 1943. He served as a Radar Operations Instructor at Pearl Harbor Naval Training School,and at the Florida Officers and Midshipmen Training School, and at the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD from June 1943 until June 1946. Married Freddie Lou McDonald November 23, 1947. He enlisted in the US Navy Reserve 1949. He was called to active service in 1950 and assigned to the USS EG Small off the coast of Korea. He was released from active duty in September 1951 after the ship hit a submerged mine in Korean waters. Johnnie worked for Hamilton-Avnet, starting as a manufacturing manager and advancing to vice president. He retired in 1989, and he and Freddie traveled throughout the United States for four years and settled in Lewisville, Texas, where they had lived for many years. Survived by two sons, Johnnie Andrew Ludwig II and Timothy Scott Ludwig; several granddaughters including Jill Allison Peeples, Julie Amanda Wilson, Rebecca Jolly; grandsons Timmy Ludwig and Chris Jolly; great granddaughter Jillian Raeann Wilson. Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife Freddie on October 7, 2010.
