Clarissa Tena Brower was born on Dec. 19. 1876 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Nelson Brower and Isabelle Doty. Her birth year is incorrectly marked on her stone. Information regarding her parents and birth taken from her death certificate and her father's Civil War Pension records. Clara married Stephen Frank Butts on August 27, 1896 in Burt, Nebraska. Mother of Mary Isabelle, Nelson Floyd, Grace, James Walter, Mable F., and William Elmer Butts. Obituary from the Omaha World Herald, Monday, March 23, 1953: BUTTS-Clarissa Tena, age 76 years, Friday. Mrs. Butts is survived by husband, Stephen F. Butts, Bellevue; daughters, Mrs S. Kelly, Lanse Creek, Wyo.; Mrs H. E. Phipps, Omaha; Mrs J. Petty, Monrovia, Cal.; sons, N. F. and W. E. Butts, both of Bellevue. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, Interment, Bellevue Cemetery.
