Albert Kubala, 89, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Friday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Albert was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Granger to the late Frank and Annie Kubala. He met the love of his life at the RVOS hall in Grayson County in 1936. Albert served in the Army during World War II. He was a lifelong member of the S.P.J.S.T., a Czech organization. Albert retired from Swift & Co. and was owner of A&F Iron and Metal and Singer Metal Co. He was a cattle rancher in Grayson County and an avid pecan picker. Survivors: Wife of 68 years, Helen Kubala; daughter, Sherrie Kubala Watkins; sons, Larry Kubala and wife, LuAnn, and Roger Kubala and wife, Paula; daughter, Kem Kubala Gower and husband, David; grandchildren, Christina Watkins Southard and husband, Blake, Kellie Kubala, Brandy Kubala, Codi Kubala Philip and husband, Jeff, RC Richards, Mattie Richards and Jenny Gower; great-grandchildren, Blake, Keaton and Skyler; sister, Evelyn Scaff; and brother-in-law, CJ Hejney.
