Lloyd married Alice and raised Alice's daughter, Betty, as his own. However, he never officially adopted her. Betty did not know that Lloyd was not her biological father until she was 20 years old and she had to have her birth certificate for a job. Lloyd and Alice did have one son together, Frank Lloyd. After Alice died, Lloyd married Bea and they were married for 51 years before Lloyd died. Betty and Frank stayed close throughout their lives...no one would ever guess that they were only half siblings. Even though his obituary does not say it, Lloyd had four grandchildren. Betty's two children; Laurie and Donald would get to see and visit with Grandpa Lloyd only occasionally. However, he and Bea were very close to and was a very integral part of Frank's children's lives when the kids were young. Unfortunately, there would be a break in the relationship between Lloyd and his son, Frank, that caused LLoyd and Bea to become estranged from Franks family including the grandkinds, Lloyd Daniel and Jennifer, who called him "PeePaw". His obituary reports that he was born to Fred and Lillie Kihneman when in reality Fred was his stepfather, although he thought of him as his father and would introduce him as such. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater. He was an artist and an electrical sign designer for 40 years.
