Bio
Martha Rita (Healy) Roh was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on October 9, 1919, to Dr. Michael and Winifred (Farmer) Healy. Martha died Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Avera Creighton Care Centre, Creighton, Nebraska. Martha attended and graduated from Holy Name Catholic School, Omaha, Nebraska and worked for Mutual of Omaha before marrying Roman C. Roh on April 3, 1941 in West Palm Beach, Florida. In 1945, she attended war training classes at the College of Engineering at the University of Omaha. Martha and Roman moved to Creighton, Nebraska, with their two daughters in 1948, after Roman completed dental college, and made their home there for the entirety of her life. Martha attended St. Ludger Catholic Church, and was active in the Altar Society. She also participated in the local Red Cross Bloodmobile Drives, was a Brownie leader for several years, was instrumental in helping to organize the Creighton Teen Club, and participated in various city functions. Martha and her late husband Roman were blessed with 69 years of marriage. She spent married life being a wonderful wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Martha enjoyed working with Roman in his dental office, working in the yard and tending to her flowers, going to the river with family and friends, and attending many Cornhusker football games in Lincoln. She loved her family, and having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren coming to visit. Martha enjoyed entertaining, and was a gracious hostess. Martha is survived by: daughters, Janice and her husband, Jack Welch of O'Neill, Nebraska, and Shirley (Duff) and her husband Myron (Butch) Christiansen of Columbus, Nebraska; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ann Healy and a host of fmily and friends Martha was preceded in death: husband, Dr. Roman C. Roh; parents; brother, Dr. Joe Healy; sisters, Pat Spinharney, Marjorie Knutson and Regina Maher and great-great granddaughter, Vera Long. Burial was in St. Ludger Catholic Cemetery. Creighton, Nebraska.
