Bio

Herald Coaster, February 13, 1967: Funeral services for Mrs. Sophie Morris, 81, were held from the Triska Chapel in East Bernard at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, followed by Requiem Mass at the Holy Cross Catholic Church at 2 p.m., with Rev. T.W. Kappe officiating. Survivors are one son, Willie Morris of East Bernard; four daughters, Mrs. L.G. Barnhill of Gatesville, Mrs. J.P. Faris Jr. of Ft. Worth, Mrs. A.C. Slisz of Wetmore, and Mrs. H.C. Schmersahl of Rosenberg; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Srubar of San Antonio, Louis Srubar of El Campo, and John Srubar of Houston; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Vasek of Houston. Mrs. Morris passed away in the El Campo hospital following a short illness. Her husband preceded her in death in 1943. Interment was made in the National Cemetery.
