Bio

Howard Lee Dunn left friends and family for his Heavenly Home Sept. 21 at the age of 91. He had just completed a seven-week regiment of cancer treatments at M.D. Anderson and was at his home in Beeville recovering. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.T. and Maude Foy Dunn, and an infant daughter, Dorothy Lee. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Lee; four sons, Allen Lee (Sara Jane), Eddie (Patty), James (Pat), John (Margaret) and three daughters, Barbara Ann Pennington, Martha Patton (Bill) and Lori Dubose; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. A self-styled salesman, he used his talent and elevated work ethic to carve a niche in every market he entered, be it oil, machinery, housing complexes or commercial development. He was a 50-plus-year member of Okemah Lodge No. 243 AF&AM (Oklahoma), the McAllister Consistory (Oklahoma) and Alzafar Shrine in San Antonio. Visitation with a Masonic service was held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the First Baptist Church in Beeville. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. at Dunn Memorial Baptist Church in Altoga, Texas. Interment will follow at the family cemetery in Altoga.
