Bio

Thanks to contributor #48796369 Vera Margaret Baker, 86, of St. Edward died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in St. Edward with the Rev. Mike McInnis officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in St. Edward. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward. Mrs. Baker was born on Feb. 5, 1912, on a farm northeast of St. Edward to Clair and Lucy (Stevens) Condreay. She attended District 15 School south of St. Edward and graduated from St. Edward High School. She married Wayne W. Baker on Nov. 25, 1930, at Sidney, Iowa. She spent her entire life in the St. Edward area. She enjoyed outdoor life, gardening, flowers, fishing and cooking for her family. Survivors include her husband; one son, Larry of St. Edward; one daughter, Lucy (Mrs. Dale) Cooper of David City; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marge (Mrs. Bud) Grape of Boone.
