Mary G.Lauer Aug 12,1931-Sept 14,2013 Mary Grace Lauer, age 82 of Kimball, NE and former Sidney, NE resident passed away at Kimball September 14, 2013. Services will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Mary Grace Lauer, the daughter of Martin A. and Nora Ann (Ruddy) Heeg, was born on August 12, 1931 at Sidney. She attended St. Patrick's School, graduating with the Class of 1949. Following her teacher's education at Chadron State in 1951, Mary began teaching in a rural school near Sunol and later taught at other one room school houses. In 1952, Mary was honored with the title of Miss Fort Sidney and served at Parade Queen and Trick Rider. On June 9, 1956, she was united in marriage to James Francis Lauer at St. Patrick's Church in Sidney. They made their home in Sidney before moving to Gillette, WY in the summer of 1968 where she raised her family before working outside the home at the Credit Union before joining the High School as an Attendance Clerk until her retirement in 1987. Mary moved to Kimball in 2011.Mary's true passions were horses, art, spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: four sons: Jim and wife Susan of Billings, MT, Jon and wife Janet of Apple Valley, MN, Robin and wife Brenda of Schertz, TX and Richard and wife Staci of Round Rock, TX; One brother; Vince Heeg and wife Gloria of Kimball; (20) grandchildren: James, Matt, Joe, Jennifer, Mandi, Jamie, Mary, Dee, Moriah, Tara, Kris, Staci, Scott, Tess, Jessie, Leah, Breanne, Arthur, Jon and Noah; Twenty great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on June 20, 2002, Two daughters: Molly and Mary Sue; Five brothers: Martin, Edward, Richard, Robert and Hank and numerous extended family members.
