(Note: She was born Susan Elizabeth McEntire. She is listed as "Susan" in the United States Census records taken when she was a child. As she grew older, she went by the nickname "Lizzie" and eventually preferred to be called "Elizabeth" as an adult.) ~ Obituary as appears in the McKinney Weekly Democrat-Gazette, McKinney, Texas – 20 Jan 1910 ~ Mrs. Elizabeth McIntire, aged 57 years, died at 5:15 on Tuesday afternoon, at the residence of R.A. Joplin, at 34 East Standifer Street, after a long illness. Mrs. McEntire was born in 1853 in Buncombe County, N.C. and came to Texas in 1893. She was married to Barnett McEntire in North Carolina and later lived in West Collin, and moved to McKinney about nine years ago. Her husband died a number of years ago. Three children survive her: two sons and one daughter, as follows: Charlie McEntire, who resides in Dallas; Jacob McEntire, who resides about one and a half miles north of this city; and Mrs. Katie Joplin, who resides in McKinney. Mrs. McEntire was a highly esteemed woman and was loved by all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.M. Bell, pastor of the First Christian Church, at the residence of her son-in-law, R.A. Joplin, on 34 East Standifer Street at 2 o'clock p.m. yesterday. Interment at Pecan Grove Cemetery. We extend sympathy to all bereaved ones.
