Bio

Reverend R.C. Hester, 88, of Lubbock went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening. Celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Oakwood Baptist Church with Reverend Syl Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Idalou Cemetery. His family will receive friends at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home this afternoon from 4 to 5:30 p.m. R.C. was born January 23, 1920 in Wichita County, Colo. He was a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and had served the Lord for over 41 years, pastoring church in the area. Reverend Hester married his first love, Mary Frances in December of 1945. She preceded him in death in 1983. On October 2, 1992, he was blessed to marry Vergie Duty. This marriage was a God send to both, and Vergie survives him. Also surviving are his son, Rex Hester and wife Carol of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Weldenia Bain and husband Dan of Dallas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
