Becky was the wife of Benjamin Thomas "Tom" Arnberg for 41 years. She was the mother of surviving children John G. Cockson, Jane Branigan, and Jerome M. Cockson. She was a resident of Arvada Colorado and a member of Spirit of Christ Catholic church and a member of the "Young at Heart" organization there for many years. She was also a member of the local Garden Club. Becky's first marriage was to Jerome J. "Joe" Cockson in Grand Island, NE, with Joe passing away in 1960 in Chappell, NE where the family had resided on a farm. She subsequently raised her 3 children as a single parent until marrying Tom Arnberg in 1971 in Boulder CO. Becky was born in Kiowa County, CO in 1923 to Felix Grant and Ruth Bierbower. She was the oldest of 4 children: Mary Roth (surviving) of Denver CO, Anne Eggler of Seattle, WA (deceased) and Martin Grant of Sidney, NE(deceased). At an early age the family moved to Chappell, NE to continue farming. She spent one year of college at Hastings College, (NE), and during part of World War II worked at the Ordinance plant in Grand Island,NE. After marrying Joe Cockson there, they resided in Columbus, NE where the 3 children were born. While a single parent and later Becky worked a variety of jobs to support her family in Boulder CO. After later marrying Tom Arnberg, she was the accountant for Colorado Engineering Experiment Station, a successful business the Tom began while also employed as a Professor of Engineering at the University of Colorado. Tom and Becky set up a perpetual scholarship fund at the University of Colorado at Denver in their Engineering school. Becky is well known among her friends and neighbors for providing steadfast support thru difficult and good times and her continually uplifting cheerfulness, charity and positive attitude. Her family has experienced those traits as well as gritty inner determination and strength to guide the family thru extremely difficult situations, for which we will forever be grateful. Becky's greatest joys late in life came from her experiences with Tom and Becky's combined grandchildren and great grandchildren, her reading, gardening, as well as simply visiting with her friends near and far. She was a caring "rock" to all of us and will be greatly missed. On Thursday, November 29th, 2012 at 3:30PM, a Mass for Becky will held in the chapel at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church 7400 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO 80003 (phone 303-422-9173). Following the Mass a reception will be held at the church. Her ashes will be placed in the St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery, Columbus, NE in December, pending further arrangements.
