Services for Bill J. Robinson, 71, of Ardmore, were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 26, at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, with the Rev. Steve Gardner officiating. Mr. Robinson was born July 2, 1929, at Burkburnett, Texas, the son of Martin Luther and Nina Hughes Robinson. He died Saturday, February 24, 2001, at Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore. He had lived in the Ardmore area for the past 28 years. Mr. Robinson attended grade school at Loves Valley and Shady Dale and high school at Marietta. He and Melva Mignon (Mickey) Jones were married December 24, 1949, at Gainesville, Texas. Mr. Robinson was retired as a union carpenter. He also worked for B&W Oilfield Equipment in the Oklahoma City area, North Dakota, Abilene, Texas, and Southern Oklahoma. He attended Eastside Baptist Church of Marietta. Mr. Robinson enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Melva of the home; three sons, Billy Joe Robinson, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Bobby Dale Robinson of Springdale, Arkansas, and Barry Robinson of Ardmore; one brother, Buddy Robinson of Dorchester, Texas; two sisters, Edna Hill and Bonnie Glenn, both of Marietta; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ramon Robinson and George Robinson; and by a grandson, B.D. Robinson on July 7, 1995. Serving as pallbearers were John Roberts, Kyle Robinson, Mike Davis, Gary Mays, Selby Egender and Ray Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers were JoAnn Kincheloe, Mike Watkins, Ron Brindom, Bernie Lemons, Jr., Lu Dickerman and Billy T. Hill. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home. Marietta Monitor , 2 Mar 2001, page 4
