Bio

John Thomas Cantrell "J T" Cantrell, passed away Saturday, November 6th in Dallas , Texas. His final hours were spent with family and friends close by his side. JT was born in Garland, Texas on June 19, 1935. He graduated from Garland High School and North Texas State University. Served in the army, taught and coached at the high school level. JT worked proudly for 37 years for Coca Cola USA. He retired from the Dallas Syrup Branch on Mockingbird Lane where he began his career with Coke as well. JT loved life, many hobbies and the Dallas Cowboys. He and his wife, Kathy, enjoyed trips to their river house in Seguin, Texas. They loved traveling and visiting family and friends throughout the country and Holland. They were involved in Square dancing, bridge and loved their church family from Marsh Lane Baptist Church. In the last few years, JT, took a lot of pleasure from his backyard garden. He grew blackberries, okra, peppers, tomatoes and a variety of plants and flowers. J.T. was preceded in death by his mother, Monnie Baggett; father, Aaron "Jack" Cantrell and son, Kyle Thomas Cantrell. Most recently, though, he lost his wife of 33 years, Kathy Cantrell. He is survived by daughter and son in law, Jana Cantrell Bodeman and Ken Bodeman, of Austin, TX; daughter, Becky Smith, of Fort Worth, TX and son and daughter in law, Paul and Kelly Boyd of Euless, TX. JT was "Pop" to Cate and Megan Smith, Ellie and Luke Thomas Bodeman and Taylor Wiseman His is also survived by his sister and brother in law, Lula and Rick Redd and brother and sister in law, Horace and Dixie Cantrell. JT's family would like to offer sincere gratitude to the many friends and family that lifted JT in prayer during this last month of his life. He treasured each and everyone of you! A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 7th at 2 p.m. Marsh Lane Baptist Church. Memorials may be sent in his behalf to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
