Bio

Rosabelle "Rose" Ayers, 85, died Friday, June 11, 2010 at Community Hospital in Torrington, WY. Rose was born May 20, 1925 at the family homestead near Lyman, NE the daughter of Frederick J. and Lillie F. (Honeycutt) Banta. She received her early education in Lyman and later the family moved to Bushnell, NE where she graduated from high school in 1943. She married Martin Ouderkirk on Sept. 11, 1948 in Kimball, NE. Later, they farmed in Sioux County, NE. They later divorced. Rose married Lee Tanner in 1972. Mr. Tanner died in 1997. She later married Eldon Ayers and Mr. Ayers died in 2007. Rose worked at Couplematic/Eaton Manufacturing in Lyman, NE for several years and later retired in 1987. She attended East Gate Baptist Church. Rose was also a member of the Torrington Senior Friendship Center Kitchen Band. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and collecting jewelry and silk floral arrangements. She also enjoyed her large collection of plants. Rose loved her dogs, Harry Potter and Tigger. More than anything, Rose enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter Teresa E. Williams of Cheyenne, WY; son Steven Ouderkirk and his companion Marilynn of Mitchell, NE; son Troy and his wife Darla Ouderkirk of Torrington; sister Idoramae Hickman of Kimball, NE; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother Elmer Banta; sisters Nina Houser and Ollie Hunnycutt; and daughter Susan Roark. © Colyer Funeral June 2010
