Bio

Eldest daughter of James Young and Minerva Evans Young. Unknown Newspaper Obituary Of Mrs. Mary Robson, wife of Neven Robson, deceased: "Mary C. Young, eldest daughter of Jas. and Minerva Young, was born Feb. 2, 1829, near Laconia, Harrison Co., Ind., and died May 20, 1913, 8:30 p. m., being at the time of death 84 years, 3 months and 18 days old. Being stricken with paralysis a little over four weeks ago, making her almost helpless. She was married to Neven Robson February 11, 1847. To this union was born two children, Jane A., wife of W. M Overton, of Winchester, who died Jan. 24, 1891, and James T. Robson, near Manchester, who died Dec. 15, 1910. She, with her family came from Laconia, to Scott County, north of Winchester, in the spring of 1855, living in that vicinity for a number of years, then moving near Manchester. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 12, 1895. She still remained on the old home place, known as the Pogue farm till March 11th, 1910, when she went to live with her grand daughter at Alsey. Deceased with her husband, son and a number of others were converted and baptized under the preaching of Revs. Thos. Marsh and Isam Roberts and joined the Big Spring Baptist church Dec. 11th, 1872. She leaves to mourn her loss four brothers, namely: Edward, George and John Young, of Winchester, and Richard, of Broken Bow, Nebraska; also three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Lawler, of Tulare, Calif.; Martha Holliday, of Laconia, Ind., and Mrs. Lucinda Marsh, of Manchester. There are five grandchildren: Edward, Effie and Maggie Robson, near Manchester; Mrs Laura Pfenninger, Alsey, and James Overton, Winchester. One great grand son, Ralph Overton, Winchester, and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was a faithful and consistent member of the church as long as her health permitted, every ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at Alsey last Thursday at 2:30 p. m. conducted by Rev. Thos. Marsh, of Upper Alton, Ill., and interment in the Bowers cemetery by the side of her husband. "Peace to her ashes."
