Bio
LaVelle "Swatty" Svatos, age 81 of York; died Sunday at York. He was born July 21, 1916 in Tobias to William and Cecelia (Hennessey) Svatos.He was a graduate of Geneva High School and married Phyllis McCashland at Council Bluffs, Iowa on Aug. 25, 1936. Swatty was a longtime meat cutter in York and had owned and operated Swatty's Superette. he has been at the Deli at Super Valu in York for the last 16 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York and the York Elks Lodge No. 1024. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of York; two sons, Roger and Sylvia Svatos of Lincoln and RRichard and Colleen Svatos of Love's Park, Ill.; his daughter, RuthAnn and Don Smith of Weiser, Idaho; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are special friends, Kevin, Deb, Danae and Michaela Stur of York. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in York on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph Ford. Burial was in the York Greenwood Cemetery. Metz Mortuary of York was in charge of arrangements.
