Thanks to contributor #47226369 Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Thursday, June 4, 1998 Emily Lothrop Funeral services for Emily Lothrop, 84, of Ord, were held May 30, in Ord. Father Jim Warner officiated at the 10:30 am. Mass at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Burial was in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Lothrop was born July 14, 1913 in the Geranium Township of Valley County to Joseph and Rose (Polak) Novotny. She attended the Manderson country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Ord High School in 1931. She then attended the St. Paul Business School for two years. On June 4, 1934, she married Jason Lothrop at the Geranium Catholic Church west of Ord. They lived in Fullerton for one year before moving back to Ord. In the 1930's Mrs. Lothrop worked for Dr. George Parkins. She then began working at the Nebraska State Bank in December of 1942. She worked at the bank for 35 years and held the office of Vice President. She retired in 1978. After her husband's death on Dec. 26, 1994, Mrs. Lothrop continued to make her home at Ord until her death. Her survivors are a brother-in-law, Dillo Troyer of Ord; a nephew, Alan Troyer of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a niece Mary Beth Parker of Ord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jason, two sisters, Anne Peterson and Alyce Troyer; and a brother, Ernest Novotny.
