Thanks to contributor #47466150 Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent May 1998 ST. PAUL - Paul L. Kowalski, 65, of St. Paul died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, at the Grand Island Veterans Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Michael McDermott will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul. Visitation will be...at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul... Mr. Kowalski was born on Oct. 20, 1932, on a farm south of St. Paul to Gregory A. and Monica (Augustine) Kowalski. He was educated at Howard County Rural District 16 School. Upon completing his education, he farmed with his family. He served in the U.S. Army from March 12, 1953 to March 11, 1955. Upon his discharge, he returned to the farm and worked for Fayette Manufacturing of Grand Island for many years. He moved into St. Paul in 1985 and worked for Mel's Service of Dannebrog until 1992. He suffered a stroke in May 1993 and moved to the Grand Island Veterans Home on Aug. 31, 1993. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and bingo. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1918 and Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119, all of St. Paul. Survivors include two brothers, Lawrence A. Kowalski and Anton G. Kowalski, both of St. Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alois Kowalski; and a sister, Evelyn Knapp.
