Bio

Louie E. Wallace August 8, 2013 - August 12, 2013 Louie E. Wallace, extraordinary man and child of God joined his sweetheart Allene in Paradise on August 12, 2013. He also joined his treasured parents Homer and Letha as well as brothers Raymond and Buddy. Born in Lubbock, Texas on August 8th, 1925, he was raised and spent his entire life in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. A member of the Class of 1943 in Hagerman, NM, he married Allene Dority on September 3rd, 1944. A member of the Army during WW II, he served as a forward observer in Patton's 696th Armored Field Artillery Battalion entering the war at Bastogne in the Battle of the Bulge. He returned to West Texas where he and Allene raised their family. Sandy was waiting for him when he returned from the war. Lonnie and Susie soon followed, a family filled with love, faith and laughter. God blessed Louie and Allene with 65 years of marriage. Sandy brought Dee Wall into the family, Susie brought Jeff Cohlmia and Lonnie brought Cathy Dunn. He leaves behind grandchildren Wendee Brosig and husband Chris, Justyn Davidson and wife Michelle, Kim Martin and husband Derek, Oliver Wallace and wife Michelle, Brandon Wallace, Brandy Wall, Katie Dunn and JC Dunn. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Breeanne & Brice Brosig, Julian Davidson, Mackenzee & Brayden Martin, Naiya & Ian Wallace. Each person in this family is a beneficiary of the love and faith of Louie and Allene and we are eternally grateful. Prior to losing Allene in 2010, Louie and Allene spent the last 45 years in Plainview. They owned and operated a local business beginning in 1995 until the present. The "Girls" who worked with them have been a second family through the years. All of the family is grateful for Angelica, Deana, Lucy, Angela and Duby for their love, hard work and dedication. We are also thankful for the loving care provided by Sylvia, Lucy, Mary and Martha. We are grateful for the support of the entire staff of Area Community Hospice, and especially Jill, Amy, Nancy, Sandra and Oscar. Louie's love spread to so many. He did his best to fulfill God's commandment to "Love your neighbor as yourself" and to forgive others no matter what the circumstances. He was small man with a huge heart, loved by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, August 15th at Bartley Funeral Home in Plainview. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16th, 10AM at First Christian Church of Plainview with the Rev. Garland Wallace officiating and Dr. Max Browning assisting. Graveside services will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday in City of Lubbock Cemetery. Grandsons and Grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Area Community Hospice, 3109 Olton Road, Suite C., Plainview, TX 79072 or the Alzheimer's Association. (Published by Bartley Funeral Home August 13, 2013)
