Shaffer Rites Held July 2 Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning, July 7 for George F. Schaefer, 77, of Maywood, Calif., who died July 2 in a Maywood hospital following a lingering illness. The Rev. Melvern Wiese officiated. Burial was in St. Ludger cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews. George F. Schaefer was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Shaffer at Whitney on April 9, 1899. He moved to Creighton with his family when he was about five years old and attended St. Ludger Academy. He married Bessie Arnold at Sacred Heart Church in Norfolk. Three children were born to them. He barbered at Lyons, Plainview and Neligh. The family moved to California about 18 years ago. Survivors include his wife; children, Mrs. Bob (Ethel) Jasbring of Hamilton, O., Mrs. Tom (Neva) Stroh of Reno, Nev. and Kenneth Schaefer of Maywood, Calif,; two grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Kocina of Creighton and Mrs. Lloyd (Adeline) Ferris of Norfolk.
