Bio

Irene M. Beran, 86, of Ord passed away Monday, August 05, 2013, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mark Maresh officiating. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Rosary will be led by Father Josh Brown at 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Irene was born October 2, 1926, on the family farm northwest of Elyria, Nebraska to Steve and Rose (Sobon) Dubas. She was raised on the family farm; attended Elyria Grade School and graduated from Ord High School in 1945. On September 6, 1949, Irene was united in marriage to William P. "Bill" Beran at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elyria. The couple farmed eight miles west of Ord. While on the farm Irene raised chickens, ducks and geese. The couple spent most of their married life together on the farm until they moved into Ord in the late 1990's. Irene was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading. She kept a daily journal as well as news clippings. Irene especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Le Ann Beran and Ron and Penny all of Ord; five grandchildren, Jodi Davies and husband, Neil of Grand Island, Jeff Beran and wife, Jennifer of Ord, Jaclyn Uerling and husband, Andrew of McCook, and Miranda and Tori Beran of Ord; four great-grandchildren, Trystan, Aidan, and Alyssa Davies and Peyton Beran; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Rene Dubas of Elyria and Harry and Betty Dubas of Ord. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill who passed away on September 8, 2009; and three brothers, Ralph, Edmund and Fred Dubas.
