POINT COMFORT - Chester Leon Zwahr, 81 passed away on August 2, 2013. He was born in Fort Bend County on August 30, 1931 to the late August and Emma Budewing Zwahr. Chester proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a charter member of First Assembly of God Church in Point Comfort, and a member of Bayside Community Church in Olivia, past President of the Port Lavaca Chapter of the Full Gospel Businessmen, past President of Point Comfort Little League, Past member of the Point Comfort Fire Department, Former Gold Glove Boxing Heavyweight Champion, and Champion of the 8th U. S. Naval District, A Lifetime Member of the Disabled American Veterans, and Past Commander of The Disabled American Veterans of Calhoun County, Post 180. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Alma Zwahr Brandes and brother, August Zwahr. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Combined Honor Guard will be at Olivia Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews. Arrangements under the care of Grace Funeral Chapel.
