Texas Birth Index Martin Rice born August 28, 1927 in Wise County, Texas to William Jewel Rice and Laura Simpkins. Martin Rice, 85, a retired warehouse foreman, went to be with our Lord Friday, August 2, 2013, in Decatur. Funeral is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home. Interment: Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Martin was born August 28, 1927, in Lake Valley to William and Laura Simpkins Rice. He was united in marriage to Nora Taylor on March 21, 1951, in Wichita Falls. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Nora Rice of Decatur; daughters, Sarah Wilkinson of Sanger and Lora Hickey and husband Lonnie of Springtown; grandchildren, Hannah Myatt, Aaron Wilkinson, Jacob Hickey and Krystina Hickey; great-grandson, Nathan Adkins; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
