Bio
Donald R. "Don" Prue, 81, of Hubbard, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 3, at First United Methodist Church of Hubbard with the Rev. Bob Rainey officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard. Donald Rea was born in Handley, Texas, to the late Joseph Willard and Ruby Bell (Ransom) Prue. He was a firefighter for the City of Fort Worth for 32 years. Don was very active in Hubbard civic affairs having served on Hubbard ISD school board including two years as President and also was a member of Hubbard Lions Club. Don was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hubbard and served the church in numerous capacities including serving on the Board of Trustees and serving as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He also worked tirelessly behind the scenes often in making repairs at the church, on the parsonage and at the Haralson Center. Don also helped deliver Meals on Wheels for the community, worked on the church's annual Lord's Acre, assisted in the church's Communion Services and made numerous trips to Sam's Club to buy supplies for the church. Don was also an avid golfer and was a team member of International Firefighters Golf Association. He had played golf courses all over the eastern United States and Canada. Don was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Navy Air Corps from 1950 to 1954. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey Prue Anderson; and sisters, Marie Harris, Louise Patterson, Virginia Null and Faye Wood. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Vickery Prue, of Hubbard; and numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family members and friends. Waco Tribune-Herald: 8/3/2013...P13/TU5
