In Memory Of Oscar George "Tex" Layton, Jr. February 2, 1923 - July 31, 2013 Mr. Oscar George "Tex" Layton, Jr., age 90, of Zebulon, passed away July 31, 2013. He was born in Holland, TX to the late Oscar George Layton, Sr. and Lillian Heller Layton of TX. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, United States Air Force and United States Army, retiring as Sgt. 1st Class after 22 years of service. He served in three wars, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He then worked for Delta Airlines for 18 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Confederate/ Commemorative Air Force, The Dixie Wing, in Peachtree City. He enjoyed working on aircraft. He was a foster parent to 20 children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Mae Smith Layton, and his brother, Richard Calvin Layton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Chaplain Robert K. Herndon officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Monday, August 5, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Moody-Daniel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Zebulon, GA is in charge of arrangements.
