Bio

Daughter of Charles Hyrum Brewer Bullock and Ellen Osborne Married Aaron Burton Walker on July 23, 1924, Salt Lake, Utah History. I, Ruby May Bullock Walker, was born May 17, 1904, the third child of Nellie Osborne and Charles Bullock. I was a twin and was born in a log cabin in Cresent, Utah. My school days were spent in the Cresent and Draper Schools. I loved to play baseball while at school and played with the Draper girls' team. We won several pennants which I was very proud of. I remember while a young girl in school if a girl got sick while in class, the teacher always asked me to play nurse and take care of her. I spent most of my childhood days in Draper, working in the fields, thinning beets and pickling tomatoes. I lost my mother when I was fourteen years old, so being the oldest girl at home, left me with the responsibility of the home, and taking care of ten children. I would come home from school, get the evening meal, bake bread, and clean the house. I found time to be in all our school plays, attend Church, and sing in the Ward Choir. When I got a little older, I would walk a mile and do washing on the board for 50 cents a day. Later my father remarried; so I came to Pleasant Grove and found work picking berries and working at the Pleasant Grove Cannery. When I was about eighteen years old, my stepmother left my father, who was then living in Winter Quarters. he called for me to come and help take care of the children. I made the trip by train, and it was an experience I will always remember. While on the train I became acquainted with an elderly lady who was taking her first train ride. I guess the thrill was too much for her because she dropped dead right in the seat. A few years later the family moved to Bingham Canyon where we made our home for several years. I spent much of my time in Pleasant Grove, visiting with my sister. And it was here that my friendship with Aaron Burton Walker became more intimate. We were married on July 23, 1924. My interests have been mainly in my home and family. Written by Ruby M. Bullock Walker
