Frances Johnstone Smith, a longtime resident of Farmington, passed away Friday, July 29, 2005. She was born April 30, 1910, in Pryor, Okla. to Edmond and Mollie Johnstone. Frances moved to Farmington in 1939 with her husband Curtice Smith. The family owned and operated the San Juan Drug in downtown Farmington from 1940 to 1965. She will be remembered for her loving dedication to her family and her strong determination. Faith, family, friends and hard work equaled a life well lived. Frances is survived by her son, Michael Smith of Farmington; son-in-law, James Keenan of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Mike Keenan and Tim Keenan both of Albuquerque, and Maureen Salmon of Dallas, Texas. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Meghann, Brett, Dan Keenan, Matt and Molly Salmon whom she treasured. Frances was preceded in death by her husband and by their daughter, Suzanne Keenan. Friends may visit Cope Memorial Dustin Chapel from 3-5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2005. A rosary will then be prayed at 7 p.m. at St. Judes Holy Catholic Church, 4200 College Blvd. Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at St. Judes Holy Catholic Church with the Rev. James Moore as Celebrant. Christian Burial will follow at Memory Gardens of Farmington. Pallbearers will be Jim Keenan, Mike Keenan, Tim Keenan, James Salmon, Matt Salmon and Dan Keenan. Honorary Pallbearer will be Fred Edwards. Frances is in the care of Cope Memorial Dustin Chapel, 804 N. Dustin.
