Fred was born in Bedfordshire, England, the son of Mary Ann Slater and William Fage. On December 6, 1883, he married Mary Bowman Slaugh in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their children: Martha Ella 1884-1945, Laura Elizabeth 1887-1962, Mary Idella 1891-1966, Bertha Marion 1892-1978, Ruth Salvania 1895-1977, Viola Sarah 1897-1961, George Frederick 1904-1956.
