Emporia Gazette, The (KS) - Wednesday, July 24, 2013 Ruth N. Barrett, 83, of Emporia, Kansas, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Rose Estates in Overland Park, Kansas. Ruth was born on December 8, 1929 in Emporia, the daughter of Cyril J. and Lola Tucker Bedner. She married Eugene C. Barrett on May 23, 1951 in Emporia. He died on May 14, 2001. Surviving family members include: a son, Terry Barrett of Emporia (spouse Teresa); two daughters, Sande Burnworth of Shawnee, Kansas (spouse Greg) and Lorrie Reichmuth of Overland Park, Kansas (spouse Joe); her siblings include two brothers, Harold Bedner and Carl Bedner of Emporia, and sister, Jane Mockry of Derby, Kansas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Jerry Bedner. Ruth lived in Emporia as a homemaker until she moved to a retirement community in Overland Park six years ago to be closer to her daughters. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia.
