Son of Joseph Matthew Blaha. *********************** Joseph was born in Omaha, Neb He was a publisher of Eagle Newspapers Joseph is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Steven Blaha and Mark Lytle; and daughters, Jennifer Blaha and Chris Sweet. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Lytle. Recitation of the rosary, followed by a memorial Mass, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Arrangements by Holman, Hankins, Bowker & Waud. Published in The Oregonian March 31 Joseph W. Blaha, former president of the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association, died March 25 at age 70. Blaha began his career with the San Francisco Examiner in circulation and advertising. He became publisher of the Itemizer-Observer in Dallas in 1966 and the Lake Oswego Review in 1978. He established the Eagle Newspapers printing plant in Salem and founded the West Linn Tidings. After a stint in Seattle as president and CEO of Community Newspapers, he returned to Oregon. He held management positions for the Canby Herald and the Wilsonville Spokesman until retiring last year. A memorial Mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City. Recitation of the rosary will precede the Mass at 1:30 p.m.-April 1, 2009.
