Bio

CPL US Army World War II Steve J. Vacek, went home to the Lord on May 2, 2013. Steve was born in Weimar, Texas on December 18, 1922. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the Army. While serving in New Guinea and the Philippines he received 3 Bronze Stars. Steve married the love of his life on July 1, 1950. He was a Free Mason and a member of the Alzafar Shrine Temple. Steve is survived by his wife, two brothers, two sons, three daughter-in-laws, and three grandchildren. Steve loved life and always enjoyed sharing a funny story. He will be sorely missed and can never be replaced. His generosity was unparalleled. A Memorial Service will be held at Shearer Hills Baptist Church on May 10th at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Steve requested that a donation be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
