No tombstone Burns Cause Death Clarence Grimm, 14 Former Sabetha Boy, Succumbs After Match Ignites Clothing. Clarence Grimm, 14 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Grimm of near Humboldt, passed away early Friday morning July 10. His death was caused by severe burns. Mr. Grimm and Clarence both worked away from home, When returning home Thursday evening, they run out of gas. Mr. Grimm went after gas and told Clarence to clean the carburetor When he returned with the gas it was dark, When Clarence lit a match, so they could see, his clothes were full of gas fumes and they instantly ignited His father cut his clothes off, but he was badly burned. They walked to the nearest house about one fourth of a mile, to call the doctor, He was taken home where he died Friday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Grimm and children formerly lived in the Jim Jackson place, south of Sabetha, where the children attended Pleasant Hill school. Clarence will be remembered by his school mates as "Buddy". He leaves to mourn his loss his parents, two sisters, Helen Rose and Evelyn and four brothers, Donald, Orville, Bobby and Glen, The funeral was held Saturday morning in the undertaking parlors at Humboldt Burial was in the Sabetha cemetery. ---The Sabetha Herald, July 15, 1931
