Bio

Gertrude was born to John and Lena Peterson August 26, 1914 in Winona, Mn. She had seven siblings, Florence, Dorothy, Leona, Bernice, Myrtle, Irene and Bennett. She married Aloisy Kulas September 5, 1932 (they later divorced). The couple lived in Winona and had 3 children: Barbara, Janice and Leonard. On July 28, 1956 she married Louis Luksa in LaCrescent, Mn. Gert worked as a waitress for many years in the Winona area and as a nursing assistant at the Sauer Memorial Home and Watkins Home. She was senior companion with Catholic Charities and a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish in Winona. Gert was ready to travel at the drop of a hat, and had a passion for playing cards. She was a generous, compassionate soul who died at he age of 84 surrounded by her family. She was survived by daughters Barb and Jan, fifteen grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
