(Ref: CARLSBAD CURRENT-ARGUS, Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico, reads as follows: JACK PERKOWSKI CARLSBAD--A memorial service for Jack Perkowski, 84, of Mountain Shadow Drive, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Cockrell officiating. Inurnment will follow in the First United Methodist Church Columbarium. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Perkowski died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Carlsbad Medical Center. West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Jack Perkowski was born May 20, 1920, in Hiawatha, Utah, to Sylvester "Sam" and Anna Jensen Perkowski. He moved to Carlsbad in 1937 and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1938. He was employed by Standard Oil of Texas and Potash Company of America for a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served two years in the U.S. and two years in Europe, receiving five Battle Stars and the Purple Heart. He married Myralon Sadler on March 12, 1942, in Carlsbad. Jack co-owned Montgomery Agency for several years. He was a city councilman for six years, on the Carlsbad Water Board for 20 years and a member of Eddy Lodge No. 21 AF&AM since May 1947. He was also a member of Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple, Elks Lodge No. 1558 and the Rotary Club. Jack was also a pioneer for the youth baseball in Carlsbad. He is survived by his wife, Myralon Perkowski of the family home; a son, Gary L. Perkowski and wife, Dorothy, of Carlsbad; a daughter, Dr. Lisa Perkowski of Carlsbad; brothers, J. Robert Perkowski of Roswell and Walter S. Perkowski of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Jeraldine Mafit of Carlsbad; and one granddaughter, Mayme Kate Perkowski of Carlsbad.
