Bio

Karel (Charles) Syptak was born in Hostalkova, Moravia, Czechoslovakia to Stephen Syptak and Rosa Kurtin. His family immigrated to Texas in 1905, landing at Galveston. They moved into Fort Bend County, Texas, where they stayed for several years. Charles was married twice. His World War I draft registration card from June 1917 in Fort Bend County, TX lists a wife (not named). A marriage record was found for Charlie Syptak and Frances Sedenka in Fort Bend County, Texas, marriage 14 Apr 1917. Frances died in Ohio in 1923. His second wife was Johanna (Valcik) Brodecky, daughter of Stephen and Rosina (Slovak) Valcik of Hostalkova, Moravia, Czechoslovakia and widow of John Brodecky. By 1953 Charles and Johanna were living in Dearborn, Michigan. Johanna died in 1966 and was buried in Texas with her father and first husband.
