Grace Martens Colville, 94, West Fargo, ND died Monday, July 1, 2013 at Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Grace Harriet Plummer was born April 29, 1919 on a farm near Barnesville, MN to Oliver & Helen (Griffin) Plummer. She grew up there and attended country school. In June 1940, she married Roy Martens in Barnesville. They lived in Moorhead where she was employed by The Fairmont Creamery. In 1955 she started Roy's Café in Fargo and following its fire, she opened "The Coffee Shop" in West Fargo. In 1962 they began operating the West Fargo Hotel and Café. Roy passed away February 1962 and in December 1962 she married Burton Colville. She later worked at the West Fargo Truck Stop and M & J Restaurant. Burton passed away in 1992. In July of 1998 she moved into the West Fargo High Rise. Grace was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Circle, West Fargo VFW Ladies Auxiliary, served as president of the West Fargo High Rise Club, and was known to many as the "Cookie Lady." Grace is survived by son, William (Becky) Martens, Clinton, MT; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren; step children, Shari (Lloyd) Fassett, Knoxville, TN, Keith (Susan) Colville, Valley City, ND, Gail (Rick) McGehee, Yuba City, CA, Eugene (Jackie) Colville, Valley City, Stephen Colville, Moorhead; 12 step grandchildren, 19 step great grandchildren and 7 step great great grandchildren; sister, Betty Nelsen, LaPuente, CA, sister-in-law, Geneva Plummer, Moorhead, MN, special niece, Gail Plummer, Mapleton, ND and several other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husbands, daughter in-law Carol Roquette Martens, four brothers, Edwin, Lawrence, Merle and Ernie. Visitation: Sunday, July 7, 2013 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo. Funeral Mass: Monday at 10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior. Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
