Bio

His mother was Mary(Sramek)Horlivy. FINAL RITES FOR JOE HORLIVY JR. Jo Horlivy, son of the late mary Sramek and Joe Horlivy, was born on a farm northeast of Milligan June 16, 1906. He passed away at the Lincoln State Hospital of a heart attack August 31, 1963, at the age of 57 years, 2months, and 15 days. Joe was a good brother, neighbor, and friend to everyone, never once refusing to help out in time of need. He loved the soil and was a farmer until his illness in 1951. In 1931, Joe was the Fillmore county cornpicking champion. He picked the corn by hand at that time to win this honor. Joe took great pride in his horses and other animals. His sports were hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Horlivy, in 1908, his mother in 1942, and his step-father, James Kouba in 1948. He leaves a sister, Libby Buzek, a brother, James, two half-brothers, Emil and William Kouba; three half-sisters, Anna George, Marie Teale, and Rose Skala; a niece, Betty Stanley, besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Kritner-Farmer Funeral home at Geneva, Monday, September 2. burial was in the Milligan North cemetery beside his father. newspaper article, private collection.
