Bio

Edward Clarence Wentrcek was born on November 1, 1923; He passed away on June 23rd 2013. Edward was born in Bartlett, Texas to parents Clara and Louis Wentrcek. He graduated from Granger High School, Granger, Texas, and attended Southern Methodist University. Edward went on to serve his country during WWII in the 1st U.S. Army 78TH Division under General Bradley. He left London on D-Day and landed on Utah Beach. Ed's military career includes Normandy Beachhead, Battle of the Bulge, and Remagen Bridge. He was awarded 8 Battle Ribbons, five of which were Bronze Stars, during his time serving in WWII. Ed also served with the 490th Civil Affairs Army Reserve Unit where he retired as a Major. He subsequently retired from the United States Treasury Department with 35 years of service. Following retirement, he went on to be the office manager of Crescent Oil Supply Company. Being the entrepreneur that he was, he established Wentrcek and Associates Accounting Firm and was the owner and operator of Wentrcek Ranch in Coleman County, Texas. Edward served as a quartermaster with the VFW Post 2012. He served as a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Abilene Shriners Club. He was a past member of Grace Lutheran Church in Abilene, Texas and served as Treasurer and President. Most recently, he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bulverde, Texas. Edward married Virginia Pinkerton on 1 Dec 1956 in Oldwich, New Jersey. They moved to Abilene, Texas in 1957 and started a family. He is survived by his Wife Virginia and Children: Edward D. Wentrcek and wife Tricia, Nancy W. Russell and husband Lee, Pamela W. Steenblock and husband Gary, Alan C. Wentrcek and wife Kimberly; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Clara and Louis Wentrcek and his brother Roy Wentrcek. Services will begin at 10 AM on Thursday June 27, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bulverde, Texas. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Army Honors to begin at 1:30pm.
