~SHERMAN WILLIAM VANDVER~ The son of John William "Will" Vandver & Effie Mae (Bates) Vandver When Sherman William Vandver was born on May 9, 1904, in Island, Kentucky, his father, John, was 25 and his mother, Effie, was 17. He had one son with Gertrude Lee "Gertie" Smith on February 21, 1929. He died on June 9, 1982, in Cass County, Texas, at the age of 78.
