Weimar Mercury, Friday Morning, November 9, 1945 A. P. Elias, 29, is Victim of Tragic Accident In Gin (La Grange Record) Tragic, violent death came with stunning suddeness to A. P. Elias, 29, of La Grange in an accident at the Mullin's Prarie Gin Saturday morning. His left arm caught in the saw he was cleaning preparatory to ginning, Mr. Ellas was pulled into the gin stand. Rendered unconscious immediately, he was pronounced dead a few minutes after reaching the hospital in a Koenig ambulance. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Koenig Funeral Home chapel, followed by solemn requiem high mass at the Sacred Heart church. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in La Grange. Interment was in the new city cemetery here. Born at Kirtley, on February 11, 1916, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Elias, he was reared in that community, graduated from Smithville high school, and attended A. and M. college and diesel engineering school. He worked with his father at the Elias gin and mill at Kirtley until severai years ago when he took over the Fulton gin at Mullin's Prairie the facilities of which he modenized and expanded by adding a saw mill. On June 4, 1940, he was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Mazoch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Mazoch of Holman. The young couple established their home in La Grange where they were blessed with two daughters, Barbara, 3, and Carol, 2. Mr. Elias was an enterprising young man who took an active interest in many activities. He was a fourth degree member and an officer of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the K. J. T., trustee of Sacred Heart Church, and a director of the La Grange Junior Chamber of Commerce. He leaves as survivors his wife and daughters, his parents, and two sisters, Misses Lavana and Antonia of Kirtley.
