Reuben Stevens and Elizabeth Chance were married February 11, 1844 Clay, Owen, Indiana. OBITUARY: On Sunday afternoon, June 3, at 2:15 o'clock, occured the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Stevens Chambers at the home of her son, Mack Stevens, Ponsford, Minn. Elizabeth Chance was born in Clay County, Indiana, June 15, 1828, and was 94 years, 11 months, and 19 days of age. She was married to Reuben Stevens, of Indiana, February 11, 1844. To this union thirteen children were born, eight of whom are living: Nancy Patterson, Rippey, Iowa; Serena Selsor, Perry, Iowa; Minerva Wilcox, Perry, Iowa; Marion Stevens, Rippey, Iowa; Tilman Stevens, Mt. Vernon, S. Dak.; Valandingham Stevens, Halliday, N. Dak.; Douglas Stevens, Jefferson, Iowa; Mack Stevens, Ponsford, Minn. The dead are: Sarah Ann, Theresa, Scott, Newton and Leonard. Her first husband died April 13, 1882. In 1888, the 18th of June, she was again married to Alexander P. Chambers, of Iowa. To this union no children were born. He died the 1st of September, 1909. She is survived by 8 children, 58 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church. Burial was made in Iowa, Friday, June 8, 1923.
