Thelma Noe Woods was born February 4, 1917 in Uvalde, Texas to Edward R. Noe and Elvie Jane Bratton. Aunt Thelma graduated from Austin High School and then received her RN degree at Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. She was Director of Nurses at Buckner Baptist Villa Siesta Retirement Home and later became the Administrator. A strong loving mother and dear friend, Thelma brought joy and laughter to all. She was known as "Mama Woods" and as "Skippy" by her friends from French Quarter. She could beat anyone in Skip-Bo and loved the weekly tournaments. Thelma loved her friends; she was a beautiful person inside and out, she loved to giggle. She had a wicked, quick sense of humour and sharp wit. Even into her 90s she was still a statuesque, beautiful woman. She loved to go out to eat and each time she did, at least one man would stop to say hello and tell her daughter what a beautiful mother she had. Aunt Thelma spent her last years living with her daughter, Joy, who took great care of her, taking her out to eat and to the beauty shop and just to people-watch. Rags, the family pet lovingly watched over "Skippy" each and every night. Thelma will be joining her husband John H Woods and greeted by loving sisters; Eura, Edna, Ida Belle, Peaches, and Elizabeth, and her brother Walter. She is survived by her daughter Joy and her son Johnny and his wife Natalie, grandsons Corby and James and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
