Bio

Father Nemec, Longtime Wahoo Pastor, Is Dead Wahoo -- Funeral services for Monsignor Matthew Nemec, 90, who served 40 years as pastor of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church here, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Wahoo church. He died Wednesday at West Point. Born in Omaha, Father Nemec was ordained a priest in 1899 at Omaha. He served as pastor of the Catholic Church in Fairfield from 1906-1908 and was pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Church at Abie from 1908 to 1916, when he was transferred to Wahoo. He retired in 1956. He was appointed a domestic prelate with the title of Rt. Rev. Msgr. Nemec by Pope Pius XII in May, 1937. Bishop James V. Casey will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Wahoo. The Lincoln Star (Lincoln, NE), Saturday, February 26, 1966; pg. 3
