Bio

Adenia E. Howard, 97, died June 4, 2013 at Buhler Sunshine Home, Buhler. She was born March 23, 1916 in Udall, KS, the daughter of Orson and Elsie Whitted Smith. A resident of Hutchinson, she had also lived in Mulvane and Derby. She was a personnel clerk for Boeing Airplane for 19 years. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. On November 2, 1935 she married Wayne C. Howard in El Dorado. He died July 12, 2007. Survivors include a son, a daughter in law, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Howard, 2 brothers, Wayne and Eldon, and 2 sisters, Doris Coleman and Lilith Howard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian and Pastor Lynne Smith presiding. Burial will be held at 2:30 PM Monday at the Mulvane Cemetery, Mulvane. Visitation will be held from 9AM to 9PM Saturday and 1PM to 9PM Sunday, with the family present from 2-4PM Sunday all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Rescue Mission, Wichita, in care of the funeral home.
