Bio

Son of Frank Ondrej. Married Albina Batla on January 17, 1911, in Milam County, Texas. Father of Alfred, Edwin, and Joe Ondrej. When he arrived in America with his parents Frank and Marie and siblings his name was given as Josef and age was four. Their place of origin was Bohemia and destination was Texas. They arrived at the port of New York on 1 March 1892 on the German ship SS Oldenbirg. By 14 June 1900 they were in Milam County, Texas. Joe was 13 and his birth year was given as 1887. They were all said to be born in Austria. On the 1920 census, Joe said he was born in Moravia. His mother was living with him and his family. It was after that he started saying he was born in Texas.
