Bio
Bertha Anna Bontke Lichte, 101, formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Herb Keistman officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park, directed by Hammons Funeral Home. Mrs. Lichte was born in Abilene, where she graduated from high school. She was a church pianist and organist in Abilene before moving to the Littlefield area in 1926. She was a homemaker and a childcare worker in the 1950's and '60s. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She was the widow of Arthur Edgar "Art" Lichte whom she married in 1926 in Abilene. Three children preceeded her in death. Survivors include one daughter, Ernestine Lichte of Littlefield, one sister-in-law, Inez Lichte of Littlefield, and many neices and nephews, gret-neices and grest-nephews, great-great-neices and great-great nephews. The family suggests memorials be given to a favorite charity.
