Ray J. Dryden, 92, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Memorial service: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel, Tom Gantt presiding. Ray was born March 5, 1921, in Bruno, Neb., and had resided in Fort Worth since 1966. He was a PR man for Champion Oil Co., a subsidiary of Union Pacific. Ray was an avid golfer and in younger years played hockey, baseball and tennis. His sense of humor was evident in the many cartoons he drew over the greater part of his life. Ray loved life and never knew a stranger. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Cecilia Ayers Dryden; and one son, Raymond E. Dryden. Survivors: He will be greatly missed by those surviving him among whom are his wife, Bette, and son, Patrick, as well as his sister, Maryan Stadie and husband, Ron, of Omaha, Neb. Marissa Probst and husband, Bill, of Tahoe, Calif. will greatly miss their "Grandpa." We must include Juli and Jon Hill, who are neighbors without equal and are family in the greatest sense. We must mention Ray's beloved dog, Scooter, who is a 12-pound bundle of fur wrapped around love and laughter. Ray brings to an end a bright era in his neighborhood and in many lives.
