Louis Drozd Obituary DROZD, JR.,, LOUIS BUNYAN Was born November 2, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to Virginia Novak Drozd and Louis B. Drozd, Sr. He married Pauline Zabojnik on May 2, 1953 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Ennis, Texas. Louis passed away at his home in Lake Dallas on November 21, 2006 at 10:41 a.m. Louis attended schools in Dallas. He graduated from Croizer Tech High School. He was honored to be part of the all city football team his senior year. He then attended Southern Methodist University in 1950 and 1951, where he played football. Lakeview Marina in Lake Dallas, Texas was operated by father and son. Louis Jr. loved the family owned marina business. As much as he loved boats, his passion was flying his personal airplanes. He restored and flew many planes over the years. He and Polly were members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton, Texas for 47 years. Louis was also a brother in the Knights of Columbus Council at his church. Louis was very active in his community. He was a member of the L.D.I.S.D. school board for 17 years and an original member of the Lake Dallas volunteer fire department. Not only was he a charter member of the first bank in Lake Dallas, Lake Cities State Bank (now Northstar Bank of Texas) but he served on its board for 31 years. His civic involvement was not just local. He was a member of the Texas Marina Associations and he was a founding member of the Dallas Boat Show. Louis is survived by his wife, Polly and sons, Mike, Tom and Dean, all of Lake Dallas, Texas; daughters-in-law, Brenda, Bridgett and Caroline; grandchildren, Alyssa Whittle and husband Vaughn, Kristin Wiatrek and husband Christopher, Michael Drozd, Thomas Drozd, Jonathan Drozd, Timothy Drozd, Daniel Drozd, Natalie Harrison and Dylan Drozd; and great-grandchildren, Weldon, Taylor and Avree Whittle. He is preceded in death by one son Dennis Drozd. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and he will be missed by his family and friends. The Rosary will be at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton, Texas at 6:30 Friday November 24th with visitation to follow. Services for Louis are at 10:00 on Saturday November 25th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton, Texas. Pallbearers will be Herb Drozd, Tom Novak, Mike Church, Mike Green, Randy Squier and Paul Rawley. The honorary pallbearers will be Joe Pelzel, Ed Bleess, J.R. Hooten, Bill Coffey, Gene Hartman, Bill Dvorcek, Gil Adami, Gene Nejtek, Ed Bright and Robert Giddens. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Stained Glass Fund or the American Cancer Society in the name of Louis B.
