aged 45 years (from Manitoba Index) Name Leighton Eurastra Huston Age 57 Birth Date 14 Feb 1869 Death Date 22 Jan 1927 Death Place Portage LA Prairie, Manitoba, Canada From 46895165 - if this memorial is Leighton Eratus Huston 14 Feb 1868 Birth Location Carmi,White County,Illinois,USA Parents: John Huston (1816-1890) Margaret Huston (unknown-1923) It is known he went to Manitoba in 1924 while his wife stayed NE, and that he died in Westbourne, which is only about 20 miles from PLP. But the dates are off. He was born in 1868 but the stone says 1881. He died 27 Dec 1926, but the Manitoba Death index records it as 22 Jan 1927. Was this when they received the data to record? His wife lists herself as a widow in the 1930 census. Finally, there are just very few Leighton's back then. My best quess is that he went to Canada for a gold rush or such, and at age 58, got sick and died there alone with very few people knowing any accurate facts about him.
